Sunday School News
Merry CHRISTmas!! This is the time of the year when we celebrate the first advent of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. When He came lowly and meekly into the world to seek and to save. We will celebrate the fulfillment of the purpose of this visit in March of next year. There are around 300 prophesies concerning Christ's first advent. Jesus introduced His ministry in Luke 4:18-19, by reading a passage from Isaiah 61:1-2a, but He stopped in the middle of the sentence. The rest of that passage in Isaiah is for Jesus' second advent, in which there are three times as may prophesies.
This month we celebrate Jesus' birth, over 2000 years ago. Are you able to celebrate your birth in Him? What is your position in Christ? All 300 of those prophecies were fulfilled literally. We are now working on the next batch. Be sure of your salvation. What a wonderful gift to give your family this Christmas, the assurance that you will always be together.
Saturday, December 5, at 2pm is our Christmas Card Party. This is an opportunity to share Jesus with those who need Christ and spiritual encouragement. We join Prayer for Prisoners International during this special time of year. This ministry gives us the opportunity to respond to Matthew 25:39-40, "When did we see you sick, or in prison, and came to you? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Come, all supplies are provided including cookies and hot cider.
In January, we begin a new year with a number of challenges for; our country, our families, and our church. We look to the new year with excitement and anticipation of the new opportunities and adventures it holds. January the 3rd, we are starting a new Sunday School class, Co-Ed I for our College and Young Career members and their friends. We have had several of our youth graduate and we want to continue to encourage them in their spiritual walk and discipleship. Nathan DeYoung will be leading this group. He has developed a special curriculum just for them. Co-Ed I will be meeting on the main floor, across from the Ladies' Class. Co-Ed II, along with its teacher, Pat Knowlton, will be moving upstairs joining Co-Ed III.
This is an election year, we need to be praying for our leaders and our future leaders. We need to pray for strength and endurance. I believe the Lord has some wonderful blessings in store for us this year. Our counsel is in God's word, in Isaiah, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint," Isaiah 40:31. We are to stay faithful. We have a voice and we have a VOTE. Get informed.
Look for a place to serve. Don't miss out on the blessings.
